Next production April 3rd 4th 5th 2025

ABC Drama is proud to announce its forthcoming production: "Beyond a Joke," a delightful farce. Set in contemporary times within the charming yet accident-prone country residence of Andrew and Jane, this production unfolds in a location marked by the tragic yet comical demise of six individuals, each due to unfortunate incidents. Upon the unknowing arrival of daughter Sally's partner, Geoff, he misinterprets the humorous chaos of conversation to suspect nefarious reasons behind the prior fatalities. Director John Wylde regards this as one of the most ambitious undertakings by ABC Drama to date. The production features a technically intricate split-set design, enabling the society to perform 'away from home' for the first time; "Beyond a Joke" will be presented at Denbigh's Twm 'or Nant Theatre from 3rd to 5th April.


 

 

Just a bit more background on our next production.

Like many groups the society had to rebuild following the lock downs. This has been going well despite struggling to find permanent committee members to lead the society.

We were extremely disappointed to have to cancel our last production just a few weeks before the run, the cast and crew had worked extremely hard on the production and were excited to bring it to the Town Hall. We lost 2 cast members and the director due to disagreements and ill health and when the set builder pulled out we were left with no choice.

The remaining members and committee regrouped, agreed on a new production and we found a new very accomplished director as well as new set designers, lighting and sound folks.

Our new lead set designer identified some technical constraints which would have caused health and safety issues if we had used the Town Hall to stage the production and in order to keep the momentum going we made the tough but necessary decision to stage the play in Denbigh Twm o'r Nant Theatre.

Whilst there is disappointment that the Town Hall will not be used for the production, we still wanted to show our continued support for the Town Hall and had significantly increased the number of rehearsals to take place there so that it does not lose income.

We hope our valued supporters will look forward to a night out at the theatre in Denbigh watching their favorite amateur dramatic group in action.

A bar will be available, full disabled facilities and a hearing loop.
